The Museum Small Craft Association is a group of professionals and amateurs involved in the study and preservation of traditional small craft.
Martha, a Hoopers Island launch or draketail built in 1934, graces the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum's waterfront and remains in operating condition. The Summer 2006 Newsletter (2.9 MB PDF) is available online. This includes the latest news, and information on the 2006 MSCA Annual Meeting Oct 13-15 at Michigan Maritime Museum.
The museum members represent a diversity of professions, including museum professionals, historians, archaeologists, and academics. All members share a common interest in boat conservation and restoration, skills preservation, boat documentation, small craft history and interpretation, and academic research. This group has published the well respected Manual of Documentation for small craft and a comprehensive list of small craft in North America. You can benefit further from this group by joining as an individual or an institution. For further information please e-mail. last update July 23, 2006 |
