Aquatic Park Bathhouse Building (Maritime Museum)
(Foot of Polk Street/900 Beach Street)
The lobby and veranda are open everyday from 10:00am-4:00pm. The Aquatic Park Historic District, which includes the Maritime Museum in the Bathhouse Building, recently underwent a multiyear rehabilitation and is currently hosting changing exhibits. Please call the Visitor Center information desk for updates, 415-561-7100.

The library is open to walk-in visitors from 1-5pm, three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). and by appointment on Mondays, Fridays, and the third Saturday of each month. Call 415-561-7030 to schedule an appointment. Closed most federal holidays.

Please note: Parking anywhere in San Francisco can be
difficult. We recommend public
transportation. (The Powell-Hyde Street Cable Car line starts at SF Maritime
and the Powell-Mason Street line starts 3 blocks away from Pampanito --

From the South Bay including the Airport: Take either 101 or 280
North. Follow the signs to 101 North Golden Gate Bridge. Take the Mission Street
exit, at the bottom of the ramp follow the bulk of the traffic going right on
Mission, two blocks later again follow the bulk of the cars left on Van Ness,
follow Van Ness (north) about 30 blocks.
To get to the Museum Building, turn right on North Point (east). Then
turn left on Polk.
To get to Hyde Street Pier, turn right on North Point (east). Make a
left on Leavenworth (north), then make a left on Jefferson (west).
To get to Pampanito, turn right on North Point (east). Make a
left on Taylor (north). Pampanito is on the east side of Pier 45 Shed A.
To get to Library, turn left on Bay. Follow the flow of traffic right
on Laguna. Again follow the flow of traffic as you must turn left on Marina. At
the next light, which is Buchanan, turn right to enter the Lower Fort Mason
parking area. Immediately turn right and continue through the gate. Building E
is the farthest of the four 3-story buildings. The entrance is between midway
along the east side of Building E (closest to Building D.)
From East Bay, take the Bay Bridge west to San Francisco. Take the
first exit in San Francisco from either the left or right lanes (Fremont or
Harrison). At the bottom of the ramp turn right (north). Turn left on to the
Embarcadero.
To get to Pampanito, continue on the Embarcadero. Follow the
flow of traffic past Pier 39 and on to Jefferson. Turn right on Taylor (north). Pampanito is on the east side of Pier 45 Shed A.
To get to Hyde Street Pier, continue on the Embarcadero. Follow the
flow of traffic past Pier 39 and on to Jefferson street. Hyde Street Pier is
about 5 blocks up on the right.
To get to the Museum Building, continue on the Embarcadero. Turn left
on to North Point (east) and continue for about 10 blocks. Turn right on Polk.
To get to Library, continue on the Embarcadero. Turn left on to Bay
(east). Continue on Bay about 15 blocks until you pass Upper Fort Mason on the
right, Follow the flow of traffic right on to Laguna. Again follow the flow of
traffic as you must turn left on Marina. At the next light, which is Buchanan,
turn right to enter the Lower Fort Mason parking area. Immediately turn right
and continue through the gate. Building E is the farthest of the four 3-story
buildings. The entrance is between midway along the east side of Building E
(closest to Building D.)
From North Bay, take the Golden Gate Bridge south to San
Francisco.
To get to Pampanito, follow the signs for Lombard. Make a left
on Van Ness (north). At North Point make a right (east). Make a left on Taylor
(north). Pampanito is on the east side of Pier 45 Shed A.
To get to Hyde Street Pier, follow the signs for Lombard. Make a left
on Van Ness (north). Turn right on North Point (east). Make a left on
Leavenworth (north), then make a left on Jefferson (west).
To get to the Museum Building, follow the signs for Lombard. Make a
left on Van Ness (north). Turn right on North Point (east). Then turn left on
Polk.
To get to the Library, follow the signs for Marina Boulevard. Follow
this around the Marina Green and the waterfront until the left hand turn across
from the Safeway supermarket into the Lower Fort Mason parking area. Immediately
turn right and continue through the gate. Building E is the farthest of the four
3-story buildings. The entrance is between midway along the side of the building
closer to Building D.
Climate, Recommended Clothing
San Francisco can be foggy and windy at
any time of the year. Visitors should wear layers since the climate can change
very quickly. The Bay Area is known for its microclimates which can change
dramatically from neighborhood to neighborhood. The warmest months tend to be
September and October. November to April or May is considered the rainy season.
The average annual temperature is 62.5F (16.9C).
