You and a friend will play a round of golf on the Lake Course at the famed Olympic Club, home of the U.S. Open Championship, with San Francisco Mayor and avid golfer Ed Lee and Club member,  Joe Sheehy. Afterwards it will be great fun to enjoy lunch and recap the day of golf.

Fire on the Water

Sail back in time as you and 19 guests sail aboard the 1891 scow schooner Alma as you watch the America's Cup races on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Built here in San Francisco, the Alma is the last original scow schooner working on the water. You will be treated to gourmet boxed picnic lunches prepared by Boudin Bakery accompanied by beer and wine. Have fun!

Paula Escher, the great grand-daughter of George de Latour, and her husband Tom, an Association Board member, are making this afternoon on the family property a reality. You will start with a stroll through 20 acres of private gardens then return to the porch for an aperitif. At lunch, special and rare Beaulieu Vineyard wines will be tasted. Many of these extraordinary wines have never left the private George de Latour Family cellar and will now be paired with a gourmet meal prepared by Paula LeDuc Fine Catering.  We invite you to create, celebrate and experience a luncheon at Beaulieu Garden in an intimate family setting with Paula and Tom as your hosts.

Schooner Eros Sailing Under the Golden Gate Bridge (30" X 40" Oil)


Donors: Jim and Pam DeWitt, DeWitt Gallery and Framing
Jim DeWitt was born in Oakland, California. As a 5 year old he drew pictures of a sailboat built by his father in their back yard. Jim gained international renown as a winning yachtsman. His passion for painting kept pace with his love of sailing, and his impressive racing career is reflected in the authority and honesty of his nautical paintings. In 2012,  Jim DeWitt was named the Artist in Residence by the Golden Gate Yacht Club, host of the 34th America's Cup on San Francisco Bay.

FUND-A-NEED

The Association's Education Programs provide hands-on learning opportunities to students throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. Our award-winning programs build character and knowledge, changing the way kids see themselves, their potential, and their futures. Founded on the core themes of California educational standards, students learn math, science, language, and social science skills that stay with them for a lifetime. Read more

The Association serves over 10,000 program participants annually, many from low-income communities. Your donation in support of these programs will help ensure the Association continues to provide students the opportunity to benefit from these programs regardless of their social and economic background.

$5,000 will underwrite an entire high school class' participation in an eight-week Small Boat Building and Sailing class.

$2,500 will send an entire middle school class on an overnight immersion Age of Sail program aboard the historic square-rigger Balclutha.

$1,500 will provide an entire class with an exciting sailing experience on the Bay aboard the historic scow schooner Alma where many will gain their first experience of the power of the sea. Or will allow a class of junior high school students the opportunity to participate in an overnight science program aboard the USS Pampanito World War II submarine.

$1,000 will allow an entire class to experience a day at Hyde Street Pier participating in historical, hands-on programs.

$500 will purchase one year of maintenance and repair services for a Pelican (small boat).

$250 will underwrite professional development programs for two education instructors, ensuring the consistent high quality delivery of our education programs.

A Tapas Party with Gerald Hirigoyen, Chef / Owner of Piperade and Bocadillos on the Balclutha

Host a private party for 20 aboard the tall ship Balclutha. The Balclutha was launched in 1886 in Scotland to carry cargo all over the world. A cocktail "tapas style" party created by Chef-extraordinaire Gerald Hirigoyen of Piperade will tantalize your tastebuds! To accompany your party, Spanish wines from Clos Pissarra will be poured — salud! Chef Hirigoyen has received many honors and accomplishments including "Best Chef California" by the James Beard Foundation. He also was selected as one of "Food & Wine Magazine's Best New Chefs in America".

This wonderful experience will include 3 nights in a private guest suite in Rye, New Hampshire, a charming town located on the Atlantic coast.  You and your guest will be treated to a round of golf on a classic Donald Ross designed seaside course or play tennis on a clay court, whichever you prefer. To top your day off, you will enjoy a lobster dinner. In addition, you can spend 3 nights at the Marriott Hotel in either North Conway, New Hampshire, which is in the White Mountains and spectacular for hiking or in Hanover, New Hampshire the home of Dartmouth College and Connecticut, both very spectacular. Both locations are in the heart of the foliage country. You choose which location you desire.

The San Francisco Marina is situated so that dramatic views of the Golden Gate Bridge,  Alcatraz and the Marin Headlands can be enjoyed.  What a unique once in a lifetime boating experience this is.

Disclosures: Boat is stationary at the dock. Available Saturday, September 7 or Sunday, September 8, 2013 from noon until 6:00 p.m. during the America's Cup Races. If weather delays the America's Cup Races for either of these days, purchaser will be able to use the boat on the day rescheduled.
