USS PAMPANITO (SS-383)

Educational Programs

The Maritime Park Association is committed to maritime education through a number of wide-ranging programs it conducts. Two of these programs deal specifically with the historic World War II submarine USS Pampanito (SS-383). The daytime program offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of a Navy submarine through a daytime visit. The overnight encampment program permits an in-depth, up-close and personal look at wartime submarine life through an actual overnight stay on the USS Pampanito.

Pampanito Submarine School, Where History Meets Science, an overnight education program, allows students to explore and experiment with the basic scientific principles that enable a submarine to work: buoyancy, navigation, cryptography, optics, sonar, and electrolysis.

Whichever program you fancy, we're sure you will walk away with a new appreciation for the difficulties faced daily by the submarine crews of World War II. Educational groups are strongly encouraged to consider participation in either program.
